Gettin’ ready for the week!

It’s been a day getting oriented to what we’re getting ready to do. We participated in Gribbsboro’s church service this morning. Four people spoke and others introduced them. Tonight we talked about songs we’re going to do with the kids this week, they have all kinds of crazy motions!! Talk about getting out of your comfort zone for some of us…but it’s all worth it for the kids! We’re getting ready to head out to Camp Delanco right now and settle into our home for the week. Keep praying for us as this week starts and we seek to love these kids as best as week. Thank you for supporting us as we go out and spread God’s love!
In Him,
 Erica
We’re here!!!

We made it! Actually we arrived here in Gibbsboro, NJ last night around 7:30. The church (UMC) welcomed us with a good old-fashioned potluck feast and then we dispersed to our host homes.
Today we attended the morning service, with head pastor Rob Lewis, an Asbury grad. Four of us spoke (Amanda, Angela, Coach P, and Erica) and others of us introduced them. We just talked about what God’s been doing in us, through us, and on AC’s campus. Afterwards, we ate some NJ italian food, traveled many miles to find the UK game (boo), rested, shopped for food for the week, and practiced songs for Kids Alley.
We’re getting ready to head out to Delanco, our home for the week. Vivian Tan, the director of Kids’ Alley told us today what to expect. We’re ready to paint, tear up carpet, tear down a shed, clean, and organize/pack. The people here are warm and hospitable and we feel energized.
We are ready to serve and love!
 More later….
It remains my vision to lead two missions trips– one domestic and one international– during each player’s four years with our program. We go because God has so generously blessed us and we want to share and experience the Good News of His love with those we meet. These trips provide practical opportunities to learn service as a way of life, to discern God’s passion for all peoples, to put teamwork into action off the court, to have one’s worldview changed forever, to learn to recognize and wholeheartedly follow God’s voice. It is also one of the ways we can develop rich, lasting friendships and honor Jesus Christ on and off the basketball court.
This year’s trip to Camden, New Jersey is the first trip we have taken within the United States. During Spring Break ‘04, we were in Guatemala doing roof construction and loving the kids at the New Life Children’s Home. We also have been to Highgate, Jamaica during Spring Break ‘01. In Jamaica, we served in a variety of ways: painting at the Christian Service International mission house, painting at the Swift Home for Boys, leading devotions at the Lyndale Home for Girls, and visiting an infirmary.
To God be the glory…
The ladies of Asbury College Women’s Basketball are breaking into a new world today with the unveiling of our new blog site. I look forward to connecting these Women on a Mission to fans, friends, family members, alumni from our program, and prospective student-athletes. Enjoy the journey alongside us…
Go Eagles!
